I am building tall shelves to store bolts of fabric. These shelves are really going to utilize and organize and the space.

This is the first of 7, the shelves will take up the whole wall.

I used some pallets that were already at the house to make the bottom shelf.

I started off by adding a lip to the top of my room

Next I made this little guy to support the roof beam

Screen Printed Wall

I got tired of looking at my wall being a dingy white, so I painted it and then printed on it. Greg held the screen for me and I printed. The image is of some random drawings I was working on, the framed pictures are some collages I've had for a while.

Whats goin on?

I have been busy! I was on the west coast for two weeks traveling. I made a zine of blind contours from my travels, I will post some pages of it soon...

Since I got back, I've been working for the artist Odili Donald Odita installing a mural at Princeton University. I wanted to post some pictures of the progress. It should be done by September 22nd.

This is the biggest Mural I've done to date! My friends at Sire Press comissioned this piece at their offices in N.Philly. These are some characters that float around in my head, their world is always growing.

Its great collaborating with your friends. You get to bounce ideas off each other, it pushes you to try and impress, crack up or gross the other one out. Greg and I have been friends for a long time, as well as collaborators, one of the first posts on this blog is of our collaborations.

Any how this is a pencil drawing that I gave to Greg that he inked and really made it come to life. There are ideas that came from the poster below and there is a second cat and mouse drawing in the works now.

This flyer was so much fun to make, we talked and sketched out lots of ideas for this "house party" and used the bands names' to make up some of the characters.

This is a drawing we made for our band, Band Name. We love TV so it just made sense.

A few months back I was asked by my friends at Flux Space to be a part of an artist residency "Portal Project" at Historic Yellow Springs. A group of 30 artist spent a weekend at Yellow Springs gathering information and ideas. There is so much history at this place it was a bit over-whelming. Most notably, PAFA had a summer country school at Yellow Springs in the 40's. Check out their website to get a better idea.

I decided to make a mailbox for communicating with the past. It depicted different people and uses of Yellow Springs. I also made envelopes for people to write or draw on and "mail" to the past. So it is functional as well.
Here are some pics of the mailbox in progress. I'll post some better ones soon.

August was a ton of fun! I have been making lots of things, but haven't had a scanner or the time to update the blog. I had a chance and thanks to my friend Chris at Sire Press I was able to scan some new jams.

A few months back I had a postcard reproduced and I was selling them at the Artist and Craftsman (3rd and Market) and they all sold, so I have made a new one that will soon be available. Real Art Love Letters is a go!

This is an etching I made a couple of weeks ago at Fleischer. I used xerox transfers and potato printed sugar lifts. I printed a few with color rolls, maybe I will post those soon. This print makes me think of someone taking a trip without going anywhere.

I like sending mail. I really like getting mail. My friend Evan Ryer lives in NY and I got his address awhile back and then I sent him a some art. I sent him a drawing and a little cowboy collage. One day I was thinking about Evan and then look what came in the mail! I decided to frame it.

This is the garden. The Gardenian is the caretaker. He is also the seed, without him there would be no garden. Without the garden, there would be no need for gardenian. There is also a desert scene where the Guardenian meets up with his friends, the gnomes, for a pool party. All drawings done with paint marker and watercolors.

My friend Colin inspired me to start making some woodblock prints a couple of weeks ago. I haven't made any since I was a Tyler. We went to the depot and got some wood and got to work. I did a blind contour self-portrait that day and I have been working on a couple more since then. Here are some pics

Volley Painting

Greg and I were asked to make a large painting for an interested party. We decided to make a group of small paintings to get some ideas for a larger one. Painting just back round colors at first, we "volleyed" the paintings back and forth; Adding to each others colors, shapes, ideas, we watched them take shape. Destroying each others ideas was also a big part of the process: When we got a painting with a "piece of crap" on it we could kill it by covering it with a magazine clipping or more paint. If something you liked was cut, why you could just kill something the other person liked, real civilized! These are some of the preliminary paintings that we really liked. They are hanging in the "Dream Collective" show now.

Dream Collective Art Show

Today I hung an art show that I curated for "the Dream Collective". I have some potato prints, silkscreens and paintings hanging in the show. Some of the other artists in the Dream Collective that are showing their art include; I Soar!, Frank Franklin, and GregOry Labold. The show is at the Rocket Cat Cafe (N.2001 Frankford Ave. Fishtown) and there will be a reception on First Friday, October 5th. Yeah!
